Most of us have often wished to go back in time and revisit our fond childhood memories and perhaps even do things slightly differently now that we know better as adults – or so we think! Life always has a funny way of forcing learning curves on you.

Picture this: a perfect photoshoot date with a younger, tender-aged version of yourself. Wouldn’t that be a strangely nostalgic treat? Well, Dutch artist Art Gelinck photoshopped some famous celebrities into imaginative portraits, posing with junior versions of themselves. The results were as fun as you undoubtedly imagined!

Our article today looks at famous individuals who captured the creative eye of the renowned artist, earning themselves a classic past-present portrait and a rare visual trip down memory lane. 

1. Queen Elizabeth

It’s been almost a year since the world got the news that this famous monarch has passed on. Queen Elizabeth II was coronated in her twenties after the death of her father, King George II.  She would later wear the crown for over 70 years!

A nostalgic moment between the younger and older royal highness would certainly be interesting. We can only assume she’d have a lot to say to her younger self – sharing plenty of anecdotes and nuggets of wisdom acquired from a lifetime of royal service. 

2. Morgan Freeman

We’d swear that’s Morgan Freeman’s son standing next to him. The resemblance is striking, don’t you think? The Hollywood legend has been on our screens since forever, all while maintaining his iconic signature appearance and voice. Talk about aging like fine wine!

Freeman’s film catalogue spans decades! From movies like Invictus to Going In Style, the veteran actor has done it all, exhibiting exceptional talent and precision. Although he began his television career at an advanced age, the actor has done it all.

3. Harrison Ford

Harrison Ford’s film success speaks for itself. As one of the most recognizable faces on our screens, it’s no wonder the actor’s name remains at the top of the call sheet in every project he takes on. Yes, he gets to pick and choose – that’s how important he is!

The Hollywood treasure attracted global attention when he starred as Han Solo in the futuristic Star Wars film franchise, which is still one of the highest-grossing motion pictures of all time. Ford has also starred in films like Witness and the Indiana Jones movies. 

4. Shania Twain

Shania Twain became one of the most successful crossover artists of the mid-90s through her blend of country and pop music, ushering in a fresh new sound. Born Eilleen Regina Edwards, the singer-songwriter and actress took her step-father’s surname at an early age.

Meanwhile, the music star adopted the name Shania to pay homage to her step-father’s Ojibwa heritage. Best known for her timeless classic You’re Still The One, Twain has also dabbled in acting, starring in I Still Believe and Trading Paint

5. Will Smith

Will Smith has come a long way since his Fresh Prince of Bel-Air days, but most would agree the famous father of three doesn’t look a day over 35! He is also still hilarious. If you don’t follow him on social media, trust us when we say you’re missing out!

The beloved Men In Black actor has carved an illustrious Hollywood career, appearing in numerous movies like Hitch, Gemini Man, and tennis royalty film King Richard, for which he won an Oscar Award, adding to his collection of industry accolades.

6. Alanis Morissette

This Canadian singer-songwriter began studying piano at the tender age of six, writing her first songs when she was only nine years old. Alanis Morissette became a child star when she worked on one of Nickelodeon’s most popular shows in the late ’80s.

After working on her music career for years, she rebooted her acting career as an adult, starring in television shows like Sex and the City and Nip/Tuck – after making her film debut in the comedy Anything for Love. That smile has not changed in years!

7. Whitney Houston

Every generation has an extraordinary sensation who captivates and hypnotizes audiences across various walks of life. The late Whitney Houston did it for ‘every woman’ of her era through timeless ballads and classic hits, all the while winning hearts worldwide.

The I Will Always Love You singer enjoyed an illustrious music career during her lifetime, with multiple Grammy Awards. Like Morissette before her, Houston also has a timeless smile that undoubtedly enraptured numerous people for decades. We miss you every day, Whitney!

8. Matthew Perry

It’s been nearly two decades since the popular hit sitcom Friends wrapped production, but Matthew Perry is still one of our favorite actors ever. The actor dedicated 10 years of his career to playing the character of Chandler Bing on the show.

Perry also starred in films like Fools Rush In and The Whole Nine Yards. We can’t help but feel a little nostalgic seeing Perry pose with a younger version of himself – it’s almost as if we’re looking at a poster of the Friends cast all over again!

9. Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep is a living legend best known for her portrayal of the fictional character Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada, who, as you may have guessed from the title, wasn’t a very nice character. The actress’ class and talent have earned her the top spot on Hollywood call sheets.

The Yale University drama graduate debuted on Broadway in 1975, making it onto the screen two years later when she starred in her first feature film Julia, in 1977. That purple outfit and the cowboy boots would look strange on anyone else but she pulled them off!

10. Jon Bon Jovi

Born John Francis Bongiovi Jr, the legendary musician formed the self-titled Bon Jovi band in the 1980s. After releasing their gold-status debut album in the mid ’80s, the group became world renowned for their power ballads and signature guitar sounds.

Over the years, the New Jersey native also tried his hand at acting, starring in films such as The Leading Man and making recurring appearances on television shows like Ally McBeal. The picture the artist chose for his younger self is exactly what we thought Bon Jovi looked like at that age.

11. Jennifer Aniston

If we aren’t mistaken, you also got to know this Hollywood gem through Friends. However, it wasn’t her first stint at the rodeo. Jennifer Aniston’s earlier television gigs were 1990 shows Molloy and Ferris Bueller, which was based on the famous film of the same name.

Aniston’s rookie days are long behind her. The actress has appeared in numerous movies throughout her illustrious film and television career, including She’s Funny That Way and Murder Mystery. In this pic, she’s sporting the famed haircut named after her character that she sported during the first few seasons of Friends.

12. Fran Drescher

Fran Drescher is a wearer of many hats. From acting and writing to activism work as a trade union leader – Drescher’s done it all! She’s best known for her character on The Nanny, a show she co-created and produced alongside her ex-husband, Peter March Jacobson.

Drescher’s activism took center stage when she campaigned for the presidency of the SAG-AFTRA and secured the top spot, a position she has been re-elected for! Looking at the photoshopped image, it is hard to believe the actress-activist is in her mid-60s. 

13. Tom Selleck

Tom Selleck’s iconic mustache and macho appearance are hard to ignore. Thanks to this snap, we learned that the army veteran turned-actor has maintained this look for decades! He is best known for playing a private investigator in the classic television series Magnum P.I.

The actor scored an Emmy for his effortless delivery on the show, which went on for eight successful seasons. We know we have mentioned Friends several times already, but for those struggling to remember, he also played Richard Burke, Monica’s boyfriend in seasons two and three.

14. Bob Saget

Bob Saget soared to stardom in the late ‘80s, wearing many entertainment hats. After a brief stint on The Morning Program, he later portrayed the iconic role of Danny Tanner on Full House, winning hearts as a widowed father of three.

Barack Obama made history when he became the first African-American U.S President, taking on the most powerful office on earth. The 44th U.S. President served for two successful terms and is fondly remembered for promoting affordable health care for Americans.

Jamie Lee Curtis is a Hollywood treasure. From a scream queen in the iconic Halloween movies to the BAFTA-winning fictional prostitute in Trading Places, the actress has conquered every genre, starring in movies such as Blue Steel and The Fog.

With a career spanning decades, Curtis has flexed her acting prowess and versatility, making us laugh in 1983’s Trading Places and raising heart rates as an aerobics instructor on Perfect. Jamie through the younger years was just as formidable as she is now.

17. Oprah Winfrey

After hosting the self-titled Oprah Winfrey Show for 25 years, this talk show host turned media mogul went on to launch OWN Television Network. Oprah has used her fame and influence for good, conducting intriguing interviews and, as you might remember, gifting lucky audience members.

The world’s richest black woman is also a serial philanthropist, championing various charity causes and supporting multiple impactful movements. We highly suspect those eyes have a lot to do with her uncanny ability to get people to bear their souls to her on national TV, wouldn’t you agree?

18. Pierce Brosnan

Pierce Brosnan is one of those actors who will always look suave and handsome in our eyes. Known for being one of the actors who’s played 007, he’s been in the business since before we were born. His debut Bond film Golden Eye shattered box office records.

Beyond James Bond, Brosnan’s thrilled audiences on The Thomas Crown Affair and mesmerized musical lovers on Mamma Mia and its memorable sequel. As you can see, the man mastered the art of stealing hearts with an effortless smolder years ago.

19. John Cleese

John Cleese is a familiar face in many childhood movies. He lent his talent to keeping families entertained and rolling with laughter. It’s quite interesting to see a younger John standing next to the man we’ve come to adore over the years.

You’d swear Daniel Radcliffe ages backward! He somehow looks even better than he did in the last Harry Potter film more than a decade ago. This guy is best known for his memorable portrayal of the lead wizard character of this beloved franchise.

The British actor’s acting skills were evident as early as age six when he played a monkey in a school play. Many people don’t know this, but playing Harry Potter was not the actor’s first title role. Instead, it was David Copperfield.

21. Denzel Washington

There’s no doubt that Denzel Washington is a film legend who’s managed to remain relevant throughout his illustrious acting career. His handsome looks and charming demeanor have earned him a lifetime spot in the hearts of audiences worldwide.

Washington’s artistic versatility is well captured in every movie he’s appeared in, and recently, he’s also ventured into the realm of filmmaking. As expected, he didn’t disappoint and still retains his natural ability to command our attention even behind the camera.

22. Michelle Obama

The former First Lady of the U.S. doesn’t look a day older than when we last saw her moving out of the White House alongside former President Barack Obama. The lawyer by profession has since written two Best-Sellers, given awesome talks and even sang backup on stage with a legend!

As the first African American First Lady, Obama became a role model for many black women and young girls worldwide. Her main initiatives during her tenure included advocating for healthy families and promoting international adolescent girls’ education. She was, and still is, the coolest FLOTUS!

23. Sean Connery

And now we have another Bond actor. Some people even consider him the best Bond, and we are not sure we disagree with that assertion. Sean Connery was a Scottish actor who achieved global acclaim as the iconic character in the early 007 spy films.

Connery’s passing in 2020 marked the end of an era in cinema. However, the legendary actor’s cinematic legacy endures in his rich film catalog. That’s why we are certain his indelible contributions to the world of film will be forever remembered. 

24. Betty White

Here is another talent in Hollywood that we miss every day. Betty White, an iconic American comedic actress, graced television screens for an astounding eight decades. Her journey began in the late 1930s and later got her break when she charmed audiences with her role in Life with Elizabeth in the 1950s.

Betty’s fame soared with memorable stints on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Golden Girls. The legendary entertainer was also a guest host on Saturday Night Live. She passed away in December 2021 at the remarkable age of 99.

25. Sophia Loren

Sophia Loren, the Academy Award-winning Italian actress renowned for her timeless beauty, emerged from humble beginnings to become a cinematic icon. Starting as an extra at age 15, she made her mark in Hollywood with The Pride and the Passion in 1957.

26. Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. is a name we’re all familiar with, thanks to his roles in iconic films. Since most of us know him as the complicated, genius billionaire Tony Stark, it may come as a surprise to know he was a regular on Saturday Night Live in the 1980s.

His other notable early roles include Less Than Zero and an Oscar-nominated turn in Chaplin. Despite battling drug abuse, Downey triumphed over adversity, reclaiming his status as an A-list Hollywood actor. His career continues to inspire other budding actors and fans alike. 

27. Adam Duritz

Adam Fredric Duritz is an accomplished American musician, record producer, and songwriter, best known as the charismatic frontman and founding member of the iconic rock band Counting Crows. His musical journey has consisted numerous hit singles and several memorable collaborations.

Carrie Fisher was an iconic actress and prolific author who rose to fame portraying Princess Leia in Star Wars. Her literary journey began with Postcards from the Edge in 1987. Beyond her intergalactic fame, Fisher displayed her talents both on stage and on screen.

Brad’s notable achievements include winning Academy Awards, earning the Sexiest Man Alive title twice, and producing the Oscar-winning film 12 Years a Slave. Though he’s not quite as young anymore, we’d say he is firmly in his Silver Fox era.

32. Angela Lansbury

The late Murder, She Wrote actress had a career spanning over eight decades! After starting her career at the tender age of 16, Angela Lansbury worked her way up to becoming a Broadway sensation with the same iconic look throughout her illustrious career.

If you watched the original Beauty and the Beast by Disney, we have her to thank for the iconic Mrs. Potts and her angelic voice. Lansbury’s incredible work earned her numerous awards, including an honorary Academy Award, Tony Award as well as the prestigious Order of the British Empire.

From the iconic stages of Saturday Night Live to Hollywood’s silver screen, Bill Murray has been the undisputed master of deadpan humor for decades. He kickstarted his career on the National Lampoon Radio Hour and later became a sensation on SNL.

After conquering Groundhog Day’s existential comedy, he delved into thought-provoking roles in Ed Wood and Rushmore. Murray’s brilliance reached new heights in Lost in Translation, which won him a Golden Globe and a BAFTA and also scored him an Oscar nomination.

Henry’s talents also shine as a producer, with hits like Ryan’s Four and MacGyver to his name. But it was his Emmy-winning turn as Gene Cousineau in Barry that truly stole hearts. Even though he’s not in his twenties anymore, when he smiles, you can almost see Fonzie!

George Michael, an icon of the 1980s and 1990s, left an indelible mark on music history. His legendary 1987 album Faith earned him a Grammy for Best Album of the Year, while his duet with Aretha Franklin won Best R&B Performance.

And who can forget his memorable hit, Careless Whisper? Michael’s charitable spirit shone through in his hit song Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me with Elton John, benefiting AIDS hospices and children’s charities. A true musical legend, he lives on in our hearts.

Robbie Williams initially gained fame as a member of the boy band Take That before embarking on a successful solo career with his debut album, Life Thru a Lens. His solo journey began with a high-profile contract and a hit cover of George Michael’s Freedom

There’s not a day that goes by that fans don’t miss the talent that was John Lennon. At 16, he initiated a skiffle band, which eventually transformed into the Beatles, a band that became a pivotal musical force in the latter half of the 20th century.

Lennon’s rebellious spirit always influenced the band’s cultural impact. He also wrote most of their early hits. Like several others, Lennon is one of those people who was taken from us way too early. We can’t help but wonder what kind of impact he’d have on the industry if he was still alive.

38. David Hasselhoff

David Hasselhoff is a versatile entertainer renowned for his iconic roles in TV hits Knight Rider and Baywatch. The actor’s breakthrough came in 1982 when he landed the lead role of Michael Knight in Knight Rider, which gave him global fame.

In 1989, Hasselhoff produced and starred in Baywatch, which at the time was the most-watched show in TV history. If you don’t believe it, ask “Joey” and “Chandler” who had a whole routine centered around when the show was airing!

39. Kurt Cobain

Kurt Cobain’s musical journey took flight in 1988 with the formation of his band Nirvana, and their debut track Love Buzz, which marked the start of a remarkable career. With Chad Channing on drums, the band gained traction in Seattle’s music scene.

In 1989, their first album, Bleach, did not exactly make waves, but Cobain’s songwriting prowess and their unique fusion of heavy metal and punk began to shine. That little boy may not have known it at the time but he grew up to be a bona fide legend.

40. Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts is an iconic American actress renowned for her versatile performances, which propelled her to become a leading figure in the ’90s and early 2000s. Her breakthrough came with Steel Magnolias, which earned her an Academy Award nomination for her effortless delivery.

Surely, we can all agree that there’s nothing we wouldn’t do for her when she flashes that dazzling smile!

41. Christina Applegate

Christina Applegate gained fame as the pretty but dumb Kelly Bundy on Married… With Children at just fifteen. Her career later blossomed with roles in Jesse, Samantha Who? and Up All Night. Additionally, she appeared in movies like Anchorman and the Vacation reboot.
